Dirk & Aquinata

We are Dirk and Aquinata de Haas. Since 2017 we live in Haaksbergen, together with our daughter. Dirk was born in Beneden-Leeuwen, the Netherlands and Aquinata was born and raised in Zimbabwe and eventually, after receiving an education sponsorship, did her university studies in South Africa. We met in South Africa when Dirk had a short break from his studies in Zimbabwe. After our marriage we both went into full-time ministry, as a calling to serve others. From 2012 to 2017 Dirk enjoyed the hospitality and love of the Zimbabwean people while doing his bible studies and experiential work in Mutare, a beautiful mountainous place in the Eastern Highlands of the country and eventually two years of missionary work in Harare. As Dirk puts it: “I have had some very beautiful moments and encounters, but I have also witnessed the effects of extreme deprivation as a result of an economy with very high hyperinflation. I have seen very hard working people with little or nothing to show for their hard work. I have seen people drinking unsafe water because there was no other option. I have seen children who did not go to school because they had no food or school fees. This touched my heart and gave me the mandate to do something. I knew and was convinced, together with my wife, who received sponsorship twice in her education, that we had to set up a foundation. The foundation was established in 2021.”

During our stay in Zimbabwe we have built trustworthy and strong relationships with people we have met. We work with these people and we are confident that we work with trustworthy partners and organizations in Zimbabwe.
